Black Porsche 992.2 GT3 Touring Gets Full-Vehicle XPEL Prime XR Plus Nano-Ceramic Window Tint

Black Porsche 992.2 GT3 Touring Gets Full-Vehicle XPEL Prime XR Plus Nano-Ceramic Window Tint

Some 911s want to be noticed. The Porsche GT3 Touring would rather let you find out for yourself. It carries the same motorsport-derived hardware as the regular GT3 but swaps the towering swan-neck wing for a discreet, automatically extending rear spoiler, which makes it one of the most understated performance cars money can buy. Finished in deep Black, this example takes that idea even further. From a distance, it could pass for a well-optioned Carrera. Up close, the yellow ceramic brake calipers and the mesh engine lid with its “GT3 Touring” badge tell a very different story.

This is the updated 992.2 generation, and the numbers behind that quiet design say otherwise. The naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six produces 502 hp (510 PS) and 331 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque and revs all the way to 9,000 rpm. Thanks to Porsche’s shorter gearing for the 992.2, the PDK version reaches 60 mph in as little as 3.2 seconds (0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds), while the six-speed manual tops out at 195 mph (314 km/h). With a starting MSRP of $222,500, it is a serious investment, and the owner wanted to protect its interior from day one.

Why a Black GT3 Touring Needs Premium Window Tint

A black 911 looks incredible under the Southern California sun, but it also runs hot. Black paint soaks up heat, and on a sunny day in Hawthorne or the South Bay, most of the heat you feel inside the car comes straight through the glass. This cabin is finished in rich tan leather with carbon fiber trim, which makes it both beautiful and vulnerable. Infrared heat quickly raises cabin temperatures, and UV exposure slowly fades and dries out leather, stitching, and soft-touch surfaces over the years. On a car this special, that kind of wear is simply not acceptable.

While the windshield blocks most UV, factory side and rear glass let through a large share of infrared heat and UV rays. The owner wanted a cooler, more comfortable cabin, long-term interior protection, and a look that matches the car’s stealthy character. The answer was full-vehicle premium window tint.

Full-Vehicle XPEL Prime XR Plus Nano-Ceramic Window Tint

Our team installed XPEL Prime XR Plus, the brand’s flagship nano-ceramic window film, across the entire car: 70% on the front side windows and 20% on the rear quarter windows and rear glass. Prime XR Plus uses dual-layer nano-ceramic technology to reject up to 96% of infrared heat and block 99% of harmful UV rays. In practical terms, the cabin stays noticeably cooler on hot days, the air conditioning works less to keep it comfortable, and that tan leather is shielded from the fading and cracking that sunlight causes over time.

Because Prime XR Plus is non-metallic, it never interferes with the GT3’s electronics, GPS, mobile signal, or keyless entry. It also delivers exceptional optical clarity, and the near-clear 70% film up front keeps the driver’s view crisp day and night, which matters on a car built to be driven hard on twisty canyon roads.

The installation itself demands patience and precision. We thoroughly cleaned and prepped every window before applying the film, and we cut each piece specifically for this car. The 911’s steeply curved rear glass is one of the most challenging tint jobs on any vehicle, so our technicians carefully heat-shaped the film to follow its contour before laying it in place. The result is a clean, factory-like finish with tight edges, no bubbles, and no visible seams.

Stealthier Look, Cooler Cabin, Lasting Protection

The finished look suits the GT3 Touring perfectly. The tinted glass blends into the black paint and trim, giving the car an even more cohesive, monolithic profile while adding privacy for whatever remains inside the cabin. It is a subtle upgrade, but on a car that is all about understated performance, subtle is exactly the point.

Just as importantly, the protection works every single day in the background. The cabin stays cooler, the leather and carbon trim stay protected, and the owner gets to enjoy the car in comfort without worrying about what the California sun is doing to the interior.
